Grandpa Z

Intensity for learning, curiousity for life. Renaissance man, auto-didact, educated, cultured, unpretentious. Violin player, lover of traveling, music and art. Creator of backyard wonders, observatory, swimming pool. Family patriach, grandfather for fun, never a dull moment. Stunned at the wonder of it all.

Grandma Betty

Former redhead, beautiful inside and out, singer, piano player and gardener. She tried to teach me to knit, I learned right hand piano at least. Keeper of family history and lore, maker of butterscotch brownies and a giver of self to family and friends.

Grandpa Mel

Tall, strong, gentle, sense of humour and pride. Serious discussions from another point of view, learned a lot about business ethics from him. Traveler of the world, contented family patriarch , dancer at parties and an ardent sports fan. Wish I'd known him more deeply.

Grandma Trudy

Grandma, always in motion. Making things, sewing, creating, gardening, cooking. House full of things saved "just in case they're needed". A woman who knew her mind and cared about yours. An example of life lived for others, but still deeply satisfying and fulfilling. Loverly.

Dad

Imprinted for life by his example of strength, caring, drive, compassion and steadiness. Mostly appreciate his thorough enjoyment of fun, speed, challenge, competition, play. Going, doing, being, learning. Love of outdoors, nature as temple, Yosemite as cathedral, all options are discussed, evaluated and tried.

Mom

First person I know, only one who matters for a long time, my entire world, then my interpreter of the world, my springboard, my reference, my North Star.
A loving example of maternal impulse, person to admire, aspire to be, and to treasure always.
